What You Need to Know About Amendment 2:
KASA is working closely with Protect Our Schools KY and other pro public education groups to ensure the defeat of Amendment 2.

While Amendment 2 advocates are working to portray this as ‘School Choice’, we need to define Amendment 2 as what it really is, a ‘School Voucher’ program. Most important, our campaign must clarify the ‘choice’ element of Amendment 2 is only to give private schools a choice about who they will accept and not accept using taxpayer dollars.

How to Use the Powerpoint
‘Not Really a Choice’ power point was created by KASA and ‘Voucher Amendment’ power point is being used by Lt. Governor Coleman as she works to defeat Amendment 2.  Both power points are designed to drive home the point that Amendment 2 is not about choice but about creating a voucher program to allow private schools to chose who they will admit with no accountability for public tax dollars.  Please use or revise these power point presentations as you see fit to best advocate against Amendment 2 with your local communities.

Vote 'No' Amendment 2 Toolkit

We have included a link from the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy (KCEP) that provides district-by-district estimates of the impact vouchers will have on each school district. You may want to incorporate your district’s information into a PowerPoint or other presentations opposing Amendment 2. Additionally, we have attached the Council on Better Education talking points and the Protect Our Schools KY Toolkit that provide effective strategies for advocating against Amendment 2.  You will find a link to a KCEP article detailing the adverse effects vouchers will have on public schools and students.

In the weeks ahead we will continue posting op-eds and other documents useful in opposing passage on Amendment 2.
