Connecting the Dots Among Yourself, Your Staff, and Your Organization: Leading Inside Out

In a central office position where you're overseeing large swaths of the organization, you have to lead yourself, lead your immediate staff, and then lead your district. Our previous school-level positions such as teachers, principals, etc., condition us to automatically lean toward taking care of the district and personally taking on these issues. But in these larger positions, it's crucial to continuously learn and build your team. By placing here first, enables you to be the best leader for district-wide impact.

Larry Dake

Dr. Larry Dake has served in leadership positions for over 12 years as a curriculum coordinator, building principal, and assistant superintendent overseeing personnel, instruction, and finance. He also teaches in the Binghamton University Educational Leadership program and mentors prospective and early career administrators.

His wife, Kelly, is an elementary school reading teacher and they have three children - two girls and a boy - Avery, Tyler, and Emma.

Larry is the author of two books, Crisis Management: Effective Leadership to Avoid Early Burnout and Identifying Small Habits: Left Unchecked by School Leaders, Small Faults Can Become Major Cracks.  In addition, he is a contributing a
uthor on Dads, Leaders, & Father Figures, which will release in early 2023.
