Finance Seminar


The Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) and the Kentucky Association of School Business Officials (KASBO) are teaming up again to provide a pre-conference session as part of KASA's Annual Leadership Institute. This seminar will provide pertinent information for school leaders.

This year the session will focus on pertinent areas of school leadership and finance. Specifically, the one-day event will concentrate on the SEEK calculations, developing the annual working budget, and cultivating relationships with district administrators and the board of education.

There will be an ample midday break for attendees to obtain lunch.

Meet the Speakers

Rodney Jackson, Fayette County Schools
Rodney O'Neal Jackson, with a B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Kentucky, has over 25 years of experience in audit, accounting, grants management, and school finance. He began at Fayette County Public Schools in 1999 as a Grant Accountant and rose to become Executive Director of Financial Accounting and Benefits Services, overseeing $900 million as Treasurer. Certified in Grants Management, School Financial Management, and School Business Administration, he's recognized as one of Kentucky's first C.S.F.O. designees. Jackson has received multiple leadership awards, including serving as KASBO President in 2021, appointed a SASBO Emerging Leader, and elected to the KASA board of directors in 2020, representing statewide school business and operations staff. He's also served as Finance Officer for three Kentucky Superintendent of the Year recipients.


Jody Maggard, Perry County Schools
Jody Maggard graduated with a BSA in Accounting from the University of Kentucky in 2002. After six years in public accounting/auditing, he became the Finance Officer for Perry County Schools in 2007, a position he currently holds. Since becoming Finance Officer, he has received an MBA from the University of the Cumberlands, and a master's in education from Union College. Jody is a Certified School Financial Officer through the University of Kentucky Gatton program, has served as the President of KASBO, and currently works as the organization's Training Liaison.



Angela Copeland, Paducah Independent
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. After 13 years in the governmental sector working for the City of Paducah, she became the Director of Finance for Paducah Public Schools. She became a KASBO emerging leader in 2020 and was elected to the KASBO Board of directors in 2021. In January 2024 she was inducted into KASA's Kentucky Women in Education Leadership Cohort #7.
