The Glasgow Independent Schools Board of Education is seeking a visionary leader who has the experience, knowledge, and sound judgement to lead for the next eight years. They will need a record of sound financial management while demonstrating value for academics, arts and athletics. The successful candidate needs to be forthright, have a high level of energy, must be an effective communicator, and show willingness to engage with those in the Glasgow community.
Glasgow Independent Schools, established in 1855, has a long-standing history and tradition of excellence, with success in the classrooms and on the athletic fields. GIS serves approximately 2,500 students, preschool to 12th grade. 75% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. The district consists of one preschool, two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and one secondary alternative school. All schools within the district are located in Glasgow, KY, the county seat of Barren County. The town of Glasgow is located just 35 miles east of Bowling Green and 95 miles south of Louisville. The county enjoys a diverse population and is home to industries such as Amneal Pharmaceuticals, SpanTech, and 3A Composites.
