The Mercer County, Kentucky, Board of Education is seeking a highly skilled leader to become the district’s next superintendent. He/she must be student centered, have expertise with effective teaching, learning and assessment practices, and must demonstrate an understanding of all facets of the superintendent’s role, including school finance, personnel law, healthy and safe school environments, and the ability to effectively delegate authority. In addition, this individual must demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to bring people together to serve the children and families of Mercer County.
Mercer County Schools, located in Central Kentucky, serves 3,000 students in preschool through 12th grade. The district is comprised of six schools: Mercer Elementary, Mercer Intermediate, King Middle School, Mercer Senior High, Mercer Central, and Mercer Day Treatment.
Mercer County is a beautiful community surrounded by the historic settlements of Old Fort Harrod State Park, and Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill as well as Herrington Lake, a 2,335-acre waterway which provides a variety of recreational opportunities. It is a National Historic Landmark District, consisting of more than 30 historic buildings.
Mercer County is centrally located near Lexington and Louisville providing many additional entertainment and recreational opportunities.
