The Greenup County Board of Education is seeking a proven educational leader with strong people skills, and the ability to make difficult decisions. This person will need to be mission and values driven to meet the diverse needs and interests of all students. The successful candidate will need to be performance oriented using a team approach with the Board, staff, and administrators while being aware of their own strengths and weaknesses.
The Greenup County School District is located in the Northeastern corner of Kentucky in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, where Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia meet. The district covers approximately 351 square miles in a rural setting. GCSD serves approximately 2,800 students, including 67% who qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. The district is made up of four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. GCHS also houses the Greenup County Area Technology Center. GCSD employs approximately 420 individuals district-wide. The total annual budget is $27 million.
