Shared Process Improvement and Performance Excellence: Strategic Planning

Through master planning, this session provides districts with the framework to develop a strategic plan for setting direction, determining priorities for multiple years, simplifying the decision-making process, and bringing alignment to district improvement plans.

Presented in a 3-day, face-to-face setting, this session includes an overview and components of a strategic plan, establishing mission, vision, and values, and developing goals and objectives and strategies to achieve the goals. Thirty-three Kentucky school districts completed strategic plans using this process.

During this time between the first and second sessions, teams will go back to their districts and begin the communication and engagement with stakeholders and community collecting input for the plan. Each district will be supported with virtual coaching as needed.

Session 2 (day 3) will be held to wrap up the work. It will include:

  • Review and Gallery Walk
  • Linking Strategies to Processes
  • Developing Communication and Engagement Plans
  • Action Planning for the Strategic Plan
