Michael Godbey, Principal of Frankfort High School, has been named the 2015 Principal of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Secondary School Principals.
Michael has served as Principal of Frankfort High School since 2011. He has also served as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Danville Independent School District, Principal of Bate Middle School in the Danville Independent School District, Assistant Principal of Liberty Elementary School in the Casey County School District, and teacher at Stanford Elementary School in the Lincoln County School District.
Michael has served as an officer for KASSP for the past three years and he became President of KASSP on July 1, 2015. As an officer, Michael has urged other leaders to work with him in focusing on the vision of KASSP. He has taken a lead in encouraging KASSP to look for services that other organizations do not offer to secondary principals and assistant principals, so that KASSP can be a more viable organization as it strives to fulfill its mission of “promoting excellence in school leadership.”
Michael has also served as a board member for KASA, the Kentucky Association of School Councils, and the Kentucky Middle School Association.
