Kentucky Association of School Administrators and The Center for Education Leadership is the KDE approved provider for Certified Evaluation Training. KASA will be conducting initial evaluator training in multiple locations and dates during the 2016-2017 school year.  The two-day training and testing is required according to KRS 156.557 and 704 KAR 3:370 for all new evaluators of certified personnel below the level of superintendent before completing the summative process.

The Initial Evaluator Training involves a variety of instructional strategies that will engage participants in the proper techniques for effectively evaluating certified school employees.  It is designed to initially approve instructional leaders as evaluators of certified staff.  Upon completion of this two-day training, participants will receive twelve (12) hours of Effective Instructional Leadership Credit (EILA).

(Evaluators of certified teachers and other professionals must also complete an additional training, currently provided by Frontline Technologies (formerly Teachscape) to be qualified to conduct classroom evaluations.

One-Day Training

As part of Two Day Training

Any administrator may select one of the two days to fulfill the “Continuing Certification” requirement 704 KAR 3:345, Section 6(5). The first day of instruction encompasses TPGES and OPGES and would be a refresher for principals or other certified administrators that evaluate teachers.  The second day focuses on PPGES and would be a refresher for other district administrators.  Please indicate which day you would like to attend when you register on the KASA website.  www.kasa.org

One-Day Training

During this stand-alone training, administrators will connect their CEP (Certified Evaluation Plan) with the KRS 156.557 and 704 KAR 3:370.  The interactive training will also refresh learners with the Kentucky Framework for Teaching and Kentucky Principal Performance Standards, along with effective observation and conferencing techniques, and other strategies to incorporate PGES effectively.  Participants will receive six (6) hours of Effective Instructional Leadership Credit.

Other one day trainings available to districts to meet the 6 hour continuing certification requirement for administrators are available to districts by contacting KASA.  These would include, but are not limited to, the following skill areas outlined in 704 KAR 3:345, Section 6(5).
